It's envisaged that domestic water charges will be introduced by 2013. The decision was sealed in December 2010 under the EU/IMF deal and Ireland with water charges feature in the new Programme for Government.
That doesn’t leave long for the national roll-out of domestic water meters to get underway, confirming water metering, with an estimated investment of €600m, as a national priority over the next 2 years.
